RBS purchased ABN AMRO in Pakistan
Yesterday I was driving through F-10 Markaz in Islamabad, when I came across a bank named RBS written over a dark blue board. I never saw any bank of this name in Pakistan before so I came home and searched on net. This is when I came to know that The Royal Bank of Scotland (RBS) has purchased ABN AMRO and re-branded ABN AMRO branches in Pakistan to The Royal Bank of Scotland (RBS) on 1st August.
Among the Asian markets, Pakistan is the first where ABN AMRO has been re-branded as RBS effective from 1st August. The Royal Bank of Scotland announced to launch two new retail banking products; RBS Islamic Banking (previously known as ABN AMRO Islamic Banking) and Royal Preferred Banking (previously known as Van Gogh Preferred Banking).
John McCormick, Chief Executive Global Banking & Markets for Asia Pacific, RBS said “Today marks an important milestone for the integration of RBS and ABN AMRO’s businesses and we are thrilled that Pakistan is one of the very first countries to reach this milestone in Asia Pacific.” Read the rest of this entry
